'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of Swansea's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range shot from outside the box, and his teammate promptly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has quickly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that growth for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I thought I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
